Bwthyn Meini

Accommodation: 4 guests + cot
Bwthyn Meini (pronounced Bwthin Mainy) is a delightful semi-detached Snowdonian white stone cottage, which has been carefully converted from the former dairy and buttery of the historic Meinihirion farmstead. The name Meinihirion in English would mean “Long Stones” – for which this location is famous. Several of these granite giants have been taken over centuries to form traditional Druid Stone Circles across Wales. The very warmest of Welsh welcomes awaits guests at Bwthyn Meini, with the friendly owners of the adjoining farmhouse as the only neighbours in sight.

Approached by a quiet country lane and private road, and set in an absolutely timeless landscape, this is the quaintest of cottages with all modern home comforts. Bwthyn Meini is a paradise for walkers and lovers of nature and wildlife. It is possible to walk for hours across footpaths and tracks from this pretty country hideaway with only the sound of birds and livestock for company. Badgers, foxes and squirrels are regular visitors to the garden. Expect to see sheep and lambs at the garden gate. Bird watchers will be delighted at the red kites, owls and buzzards which nest nearby.

Set in the lower slopes of the Arenig mountain, an energetic but rewarding walk to the summit will leave lasting memories of breathtaking views. It is possible to see the tip of Snowdon, the coast of Ireland and no less than 10 lakes from here!

Beautiful, remote but not lonely location, yet just minutes by car from the bustling market town of Bala.
